Fachada Oeste
El Castillo de nueva planta de 1572 tiene en esta fachada, orientada al naciente, su eje fundamental. Desde aquí se accedía a todas las dependencias interiores, para ello se usaba una escalera levadiza de madera que era izada antes de que el enemigo pudiese entrar. Observamos las puertas de la primera planta y segunda justo sobre la entrada principal. Como medida adicional de seguridad, no existía comunicación entre las plantas por el interior, de tal manera que aunque el enemigo pudiese tomar por asalto la primera planta, al ser compartimientos estancos, la segunda aún seguiría quedando en poder de los defensores del Castillo.
West Façade
The main part of the new Castle constructed in 1572 consisted of this façade which faces east. Access was provided here to all of the inner chambers, for which a wooden pull-up ladder was used, being raised before the enemy could enter. We can observe the doors of the first and second floors just above the main entrance. As an added security measure, the two floors were not interconnected from the inside, which means that even though the enemy may have taken the first floor, the second floor could still be held by the defenders of the Castle.
